Literary, intellectual and cultural journals for the general reader can be a source of great personal enrichment and conversational delight. A few of my favorites include The UTNE Reader, Lapham’s Quarterly, Parabola, The Sun, Arts & Letters Daily, the Browser,, Marginal RevolutionHarper’s, The Atlantic Monthly,  Salon, The American Scholar, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Kenyon Review, The Smart Set, Ploughshares, and Paris Review.  In addition, there is a website for the Top 50 Literary Magazines.
